The Institute provides a comprehensive range of training for supervisors who support trainees on placement, or with research. The annual training programme is planned by the supervisor working party (with OXiCPT staff, trainee and supervisor representatives), incorporates training for new and more experienced supervisors and is led by Dr Sue Clohessy.  It includes a British Psychological Society approved 4-day Introduction to Supervision course (beginning in July and ending in March the following year), which is based on national learning objectives for introductory supervisor training.  Successful completion of this course confers eligibility for inclusion on the BPS Register of Applied Psychological Practice Supervisors (RAPPS).  The programme also includes a 2 day residential training at Charney Manor (the topic of which varies each year), and training on research supervision.  If you have any questions about supervisor training, or suggestions for topics to be included in the programme please contact Dr Sue Clohessy (
