Reflections from Dr Reena Vohora and Dr David Dean on a careers workshop for potential applicants from a black and minority ethnic background
The Access and Outreach Group is a sub-group of the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training and Research course. The group has been running for five years and working on developing ideas to support diversity and inclusion.
Initiatives derived from the group have led to a wide range of events being organised in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Such initiatives include careers events in schools and universities to increase aspirations of younger people from underrepresented groups.
The Access and Outreach group has also been working on a regional careers event for individuals from black and minority ethnic (BAME) background. The careers event has run each year since 2012, with planning soon commencing for this year’s event.
